The Feast of the Presentation of the Lord (Candlemas Day) is celebrated on Monday, 2 February. This feast recalls Mary and Joseph bringing the infant Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem 40 days after His birth. This day is celebrated with the blessing of candles, symbolizing Christ as the Light that guides us out of darkness. Candles for use in our homes and churches will be blessed during Mass in The Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, Newmarket-on-Fergus at 7pm on Monday, 2 February.
