On Tuesday evening last, Bishop Fintan hosted and evening at the Inn at Dromoland to share in a conversation with parishioners of this Pastoral Area. Bishop Fintan and all involved were hugely encouraged by the gathering of some 150 people. All interested to hear and to contribute to the future faith life of our Diocese and our Pastoral Area. There is no doubting that challenging times lie ahead but this meeting gave reasons for hope as all involved engaged these challenges with both realism and faith. Conversation will be ongoing across the diocese for another number of weeks after which, Bishop Fintan hopes with the help of an advisory group, to discern where God is calling us as the People of God in the Diocese of Killaloe. What rang through at Tuesday night’s meeting was that given our current situation change is inevitable, but where possible we should incrementally journey to where, with current trends, we may ultimately have to arrive.
