The “Limerick and Clare Examiner” carried this grim account from its own reporter of his visit to Newmarket: “From Sixmilebridge I wended my way to Newmarket-on-Fergus. Unfortunately I arrived there too soon for the coach and had consequently to witness scenes with which we are all nowadays, but too familiar.
