Senior Citizen’s Annual Mass and Blessing will take place in Newmarket Church at 11am on Saturday Oct 14^th. Refreshments will be served afterwards in “The Hunters Lodge”

Though you have lost the outside world,

May you discover the untold journey

That though your body is imprisoned,

No one can imprison your mind.

May all the time you have on your hands

Bring you into new friendship with your mind

So that you learn to understand and integrate

The darkness that brought you here.

Within this limited space,

The stretch of time.

May your compassion awaken

May you learn to recover the self

You were before you lost your way

And draw from its depths

Some balm to heal your wounds.

Behind the rhythms of prison life

First Friday House Calls

The sick and housebound will be visited with the sacraments on the First Friday of each month. If you know of any Parishioner who is housebound and who would like to receive the Sacraments, please contact the Parish Office or any of the Priests.

Meals on Wheels

The Obair South Clare Community Catering Service (Meals on Wheels) began operating from Café Fergus in 2010 supplying 10 meals to local people in the Newmarket on Fergus area. Since expanding the service to other areas 2 years ago they now supply over 60 meals per day Monday to Friday in the wider South Clare area. The service delivers a two course hot meal daily to anyone who may not be in a position to cook for themselves due to increasing age, illness or hospital recovery. The meals are nutritious and cooked fresh to very high standards and are offered at a low cost.

A black and white map of the civil parish of Finlough showing family residences and farms in 1855 can be ordered in the parish office. Maps of the other six parishes will be available later. Price €5 – €10 each. The small letters and numbers on the map can be compared with same in ‘The Story of Newmarket on Fergus’ and will identify names of landlords and occupiers.

Diocesan Youth Faith Festival –

The Diocesan Youth Fest. takes place on Saturday Sept. 30th in St. Flannans College, Ennis. Its open to those in Transition Year to Leaving Cert. 9.30 a.m. Registration with various workshops throughout the day. Lunch is provided & the entire event is free of charge. This weekend Bishop Fintan Monahan comes to spend time in our midst to visit, to listen and to pray with us. It is an opportunity for him to get acquainted with the geography of the parish and the life of the community. He has had a busy schedule since his arrival in the diocese and it is a pleasure to have him break the bread of the Eucharist with us as community. We extend a very warm welcome to Bishop Fintan and continue to pray for him as he settles into his role as shepherd in the diocese of Killaloe.
