This weekend, every Parish in the World will come together in prayer and generosity in support of the Missions. This year, World Mission Sunday is being celebrated this Sunday. In Ireland, World Mission Sunday is managed by World Missions Ireland. World Missions Ireland is the Church’s official charity for overseas mission. It is part of a worldwide network of 120 offices, under the co-ordination of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Rome. Together, they are responsible for the global coordination of World Mission Sunday, which helps support over one thousand struggling mission dioceses in 157 countries. World Missions Ireland is the only Catholic charity which supports the 40% of the Universal Church that is too new, young or poor to support itself. It follows Christ’s example by helping everyone in need, regardless of background or belief. Through World Mission Sunday, and your generosity, World Missions Ireland helps to:
1. Build the Church and empower local people to form and sustain communities of faith.
2. Train future priests, sisters and catechists.
3. Support vulnerable children through educational, medical, welfare and formation programmes.
4. Educate the faithful about mission.
Thank you for your generosity and kindness to Missionaries.
