The death has occurred in South Florida of Fr. Pat Murnane a native of Stonehall. Born in 1934, Fr Pat was ordained in 1960 and became one of dozens of Irish priests who went to Florida in the middle of the last century. He served at St. Juliana in West Palm Beach (1960-63), St. Coleman in Pompano Beach (1963-66), and St. Anthony in Fort Lauderdale (1966-68) before being appointed administrator of St. Helen in Fort Lauderdale (1968-78) and then pastor (1978-86). He was named pastor of Nativity parish in Hollywood in April 1986. His work within the archdiocese of Miami over half a century was immense. He was loved and treasured for his wit, generosity and kindness. Father Pat, who served as pastor of Nativity for 29 years, died Oct. 4 at the age of 85, after 59 years in the priesthood.
