In this years Tidy Towns Competition we gained points on last year and received a very positive and supportive report from the Adjudicators. Light restoration work has started on the Old Bridge and all the caps have been recovered from the riverbed, this work is ongoing and it is hoped it will be finished before the end of October. A project entitled “Enhancing the Riverbank with Family Trees has been approved for funding by The Department of Environment, Community & Local Government and Clare County Council in conjunction with the LA 21 Environmental Partnership Fund. This allows us to plant 65 native trees, Willow, Aspen and Downy Birch in the field next to the river. It is hoped that planting will take next February in the school midterm break. Further information will be available towards the end of the year.
We have been nominated by Clare County Council to represent the County in the All Ireland Pride of Place Competition the results will be announced at the Pride of Place Function on November 14th in the West County Ennis.
